Your crew on board yacht songbird
Andy Kinnard, The Captain
British
An experienced and accomplished sailor with a healthy appetite for fun and adventure! Andy was first introduced to sailing on the River Clyde in Scotland at a young age and then started his professional sailing career on the bow of a Volvo 60. Andy has been sailing commercially and competitively for over 20 years, skippering yachts in various races including multiple Rolex Fastnet campaigns. He has spent time cruising the North Atlantic and skippering a privately owned yacht around the Caribbean and North America. In 2010 Andy became an RYA Yachtmaster & Sea Survival Instructor and has shared his passion for sailing and safety at sea with over 200 students so far. Having enjoyed sailing around the Adriatic for a few years, he is excited to spend more time in this beautiful location with Yacht Songbird, exploring new areas and introducing his favourite places to Songbird’s guests.
When he’s not sailing, Andy can be found studying traditional forms of navigation, flying, horse riding and spending time with his children.
Marko Foskulo, First Mate
Croatian
Born in the Dubrovnik region of Croatia into a family of hardworking and passionate seafarers, sailing is in Marko’s blood and he knows the waters and islands around the Croatian coast like the back of his hand. Aged just 15 Marko got his boat licence and took part in numerous regattas on the Adriatic, and from this moment forward sailing became his calling. He is a very competent and experienced sailor, skippering professionally for the last 8 years on charters in both Croatia and the Caribbean. Marko loves long passage sailing, which has taken him across the Atlantic 3 times.
Aside from sending his time on a sailboat, Marko’s hobbies include windsurfing, fishing, snowboarding and travelling.
Sarah Weare, Chef
British
A natural born host with food never far from her mind, Sarah is always thinking about the next meal. Sarah started out cooking at her family’s busy pub in the Oxfordshire countryside and soon ventured into catering for local events & parties. She decided to follow a career in brand marketing which led to her to New York and qualifying as a yoga teacher, but ultimately the call for gastronomic travel adventures became too great. Sarah now spends her time working in travel marketing, exploring new places and loves discovering local cuisines. She also cooks for events at private villas, retreats and of course at sea, along the way. She mixes her passion for nutrition to prepare seasonal, healthy dishes using local ingredients with a passion for the Mediterranean and Middle Eastern cuisines.
When she’s not sailing or cooking Sarah will be found exploring and photographing new pastures or food. On board Songbird, she may also take a morning yoga class for those guests who would like to rise early and salute the sun!
